Heralding
A New Economic Order
Quality
Times, April 2003
A bloody war is being waged by governments
against the wishes of people who voted them to power. 83% in
Spain, 56% in US and 75% in UK are opposed to the war in Iraq.
Hundreds of thousands of people are marching the streets of
world's capitals protesting against the war. Others have not
taken to streets lest it may demoralize "our boys on the
front" but are equally anguished. Yet, the morbid bombing
of innocent civilians continues. One wonders how the principles
of corporate governance which is on top of international agenda
do not apply to governments?
The concern for environment and innovations
in bio economy are already reordering the world. The economic
boycott of US goods and services will only hasten the process.
It will offer new opportunities to countries such as India and
China; India especially because it has a robust financial system
and stock market and can be a logical destination for the disenchanted
investors.
