Directors are under siege as never before. Shareholders, investors,
regulators, NGOs and courts are all examining their role and
scrutinising their decisions ever more minutely and in full
glare of media. The aftermath of the Sarbanes Oxley Act in
US and Derek Higgs Review in UK and Naresh Chandra Committee’s
report in India has only added to the already onerous duties
of directorship. Directors themselves are terribly confused
over their role. While on one side there are calls for abolition
of non-executive directors, there is, on the other hand, a
clamour for the enhancement of their role in the corporations.
The subject of corporate governance, though ever so vital after
successive accounting frauds, has never seemed more muddled.
There is an urgent need, therefore, to understand this concept
and how it can work for you as an investor, shareholder, fund
manager, CEO, company director, lawyer, banker, insurer, political
leader, trade union leader, corporation’s employee, supplier,
customer and ordinary citizen.
It is because of this that Centre For Corporate Governance
together with World Council for Corporate Governance is organizing
a one day seminar on " Making Corporate Governance work
for you -Maximising Effectiveness of Company Boards ".
The seminar will give you upto the minute intelligence and
alert you to the new area of risk and opportunities in corporate
management. It is designed to help you internalize how corporate
boards can respond to today’s challenges and maximize
their effectiveness.

corporate guru, a managemenrt visionary and futuristic thinker
Dr Madhav Mehra, President World Council For Corporate Governance.
